Okay, as I mentioned, this is the kind of book that best works when you can commit to binge-reading, because it was engaging when I was engaging with it consistently, but it was frustrating when I couldn't. (That being said, you need to be able to commit to binge-reading 600+ pages).
There's a good bit of subterfuge, and a lot of layers and confusion - I appreciate Wilkie Collins's attention to detail. That's partly why you need to work through it quickly - you remember the details more because they're fresher in your mind.
It definitely deserves a spot on the Top Books, but I understand why it wasn't on more lists.
