A - Z Bookish Survey

I found this tag on Brin's book blog (link here to the original post she did) and I decided to make it this week's book post! I hope you enjoy it!

Author you've read the most books from: Tamora Pierce, probably. I've read the entire protector of the small series, and a few of the lioness quartet and the circle of magic series (but didn't finish them), and I'm partway through Beka Cooper: Terrier. A close second (possibly a tie?) is J.K. Rowling and all seven Harry Potter books.

Best Sequel Ever: Shadow of Night from the All Souls Trilogy was a surprisingly good follow-up for character progression from A Discovery of Witches. Also, Chamber of Secrets from Harry Potter.

Currently Reading: The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler, Liberty's Exiles by Maya Jassanoff, and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, because why not read three books at once?

Drink of Choice while reading: Coffee? Water? Whatever it is that's in reach?

e-reader or physical book?: Physical book. I don't own an e-reader.

Fictional Character you would have dated in high school: I'm a little ashamed that I probably would have fallen for someone like Jacob Black from Twilight.

Glad you gave this book a chance: Madame Bovary. It wasn't my favorite book by any means, but I enjoyed it when I was reading it.

Hidden gem book: Of all Jane Austen's books, I don't know if Northanger Abbey gets enough love.

Important moment in your reading life: The moment I realized how much I truly hated Wuthering Heights (and the subsequent moment I realized I'm probably the only person who hates it) or the moment I finally learned how to read and understand Shakespeare.

Just Finished: The most recent book I finished (several weeks ago now) was The Great Gatsby.

Kind of book you won't read: I don't want to rule anything out, but I wouldn't necessarily read anything by Donald Trump (or any of his family) unless it was to try to understand why he is the way he is.

Longest book you've read: The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. It comes in at exactly 1000 pages, and it was worth it.

Major book hangover because of... The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. It was the first book in recent memory that made me yell at the book. It's also the only John Green book I've read.

Number of bookcases you own: Just one, but I have a lot of books lying around my room and a few on the family bookcase downstairs.

One book you've read multiple times: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams and the Harry Potter series are the first two that come to mind, but I know there are others.

Preferred place to read: either in bed or in public so people don't talk to me on the bus or when I have dinner in a public place and not at home.

Quote that inspires you/ gives you Feelings: I have two: one funny, and one funny/ life advice, both from Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy. First, "In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people angry and has generally been regarded as a bad move."
Second, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has a lot to say on the subject of towels. ... A towel has immense psychological value. What any strag (non-hitchhiker) would think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, struggle against terrible odds, and still know where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.
So, in conclusion, be prepared and don't stress the existence of the universe.

Reading Regret: I don't really regret reading anything, except maybe Wuthering Heights for a second time because, as established, I really hate it. That's literally it.

Series you started and need to finish: The Lunar Chronicles. I'm partway through Scarlet.

Three of your all-time favorite books: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald, Stardust by Neil Gaiman.

Unapologetic Fangirl for... All Souls trilogy is the first one that comes to mind.

Very Excited for the release of... The third book in the Kingkiller Chronicles.

Worst Bookish Habit: I dog-ear my books, instead of using bookmarks. Which is weird, because I own a lot of bookmarks.

X Marks the Spot: Start at the top left of your bookshelf and choose the 27th book: At the time of typing, it's Jude the Obscure.

Your Most Recent Book Purchase: Either Agnes Grey or The Night Circus.

ZZZ-Snatcher Book - one that kept you up: The Book of Life from the All Souls Trilogy. It was amazing. I loved it. I couldn't not read it.
